Orthodontics is not only about straightening teeth (orthos – straight, dons - tooth) but correcting jaw positions and the bite. This has a dramatic effect on improving the profile and efficiency of the dentition. Poorly aligned teeth are difficult to keep clean and can lead to caries and gum disease.
Orthodontic treatment results in increased confidence and self esteem knowing that you have an attractive and healthier mouth.
Treatment times vary according to the type of presenting position and can be usually from 6-12-24 months.

Treatment can start early e.g. 8-9 years to correct bites and prominent teeth. These treatments are kept short by using removable type of braces and most treatments are carried out when all the permanent teeth have grown i.e. from 11 to 18 years.
Adult treatment is becoming increasingly popular as many options are possible to make the wearing of braces more acceptable. These options can include Ceramic fixed braces, Clear Invisalign aligners or Ligual braces (behind the teeth), and removable braces e.g. Inman or Oralign.
